le Grand Voyage
I met up with Joe Kool, Talib and Ghaz to watch this movie last night. I only watch it based on a recommendation from Wan Giggs, and no other reason. He says it's good. So I decided to check it out.
But the thing was, I didn't find the movie to be good. It was more of ... okay. I never liked those 'arts' movies with bad editing, music-less, weird angles, which they claim to make it look like art. And this film was like one of them. Except, it revolves around the idea of Hajj. No doubt it's a beautiful story about a reluctant son who has to drive his father to go to Mecca, and the turmoils of their relationship. But it could use a little bit more flare to the storyline. It's kinda dull, if you ask me.
After the show, the bunch of us went out unexpectingly fast, in order to catch the last train. Didn't discuss much about the film, but we talked about making a Light Sabre battle short film instead. Huh?
Anyways, I went to meet up with Wak Slamet n' Giggs after the movie at Bedok. Then I was confronting him about why he said it was so good, when I found it to be just mediocre. But during the course of discussion and reflection of the movie, I found the movie to be.. not bad. And more discussions ensues. I came to realise, hey, it's quite a good movie. And by the end of it, I decided, it's a good movie.
So guys, set a day free, catch the movie, and after that, sit down somewhere, have coffee, and discuss and reflect. It'll be good...
The possibilities are limitless.
And ok, I'm not artsy enough. Fine.
