Kissed the road
My second fall. It hurts. Quite bad. Damn the taxi driver, damn the TZM rider, and damn my stupid overconfidence.
Why do all my falls look stupid? The first one, the stupid skid due to new tyres on a rainy day. This time round, I call it evasive action. Haha. Right.
It's really my stupid mistake. I was already moving, along Tampines, on the way to Yishun. Then I realise my helmet wasn't strapped in properly. So, I took one hand to strap while the other is on the throttle. Was coming to a stop at the traffic light. Then suddenly, a TZM zoomed past, narrowly missing me. I swerved a bit to the right. Then the bloody taxi just changed lane without warning. Braking hard with one hand is never a good idea. So when I did just that, I wobbled like crazy and fell. The taxi had sped off since the green light was on. But the TZM dude helped me.
Haha. Damn, my leg looked like it's shredded. And the weird thing is, my neck feels heavy. Ugh...
But the real casualty of this accident is not me. It's my bike. I was just starting to like it. To appreciate the fact that though it's small in size or slow in speed, it's served its purpose pretty well. And coz' of my stupid mistake, she lost her right mirror, and her already scratched right side (from the first fall) was scratched even more. Her alignment became crooked, but it got ok after I gave it a few knocks on the curb. The truth is, after I fell, I sat on the road and tried to move, and after confirming that nothing's broken, I stared at her, sprawled on the road, tires spinning, mirror fallen, seat overturned. She wasn't even rumbling. The engine had stalled. (Auto bike can stall meh?) I was like, oh no... what have I done to you...
After sitting by the curbside a while, I realise I still had to deliver the package to Yishun. I tried contacting a nearby friend to lend me his helmet, (oh, my helmet, scratched badly and visor broke again) but he didn't respond. So, I went ahead squinting my eye thru the expressways. Thank God I came back alive.
Took me 15-20 minutes from home to Yishun. Cool.
Lesson learnt. Overconfidence can kill.
